9th Vaujany International Chess Festival

General presentation of the festival After the success of the 8th edition, which gathered 189 players  in  Vaujany, the 9th edition of the Vaujany chess festival, will occur from july 12th to july 20th, 2018.

As previously, our  festival will offer 3 tournaments:
  • The Principal, for strong players with an Elo rating above 1850 
  • The "Accession", for players with an Elo rating below 1900. 
  • The  "Petit’Zélos" (small Elos)  for players with an Elo rating below 1500.   
The tournaments will be played in the wonderful  "Espace Loisirs" room, which can accomodate  up to  250 players. Do not hesitate to register, there is room for everybody!.

The registration rights are the following:
Principal 58 € for seniors and 29 € for players 18 years old or less, and for Fide masters with elo>2200. 
Accession 50 € and 25 € 
Petit’Zélos 30 € and 15 €

The arbiters will be Claire PERNOUD and Thierry DELELIS-FANIEN,  well known and appreciated by all those who participated to the previous chess festivals in Vaujany.

The prize fund of this 9th Festival will stay at a high standard with  8600 €:  5800€ in the principal tournament (1rst prize of 1200€), 2200€ in the accession (1rst prize 500€) and about 600€ in the Petizelos (1rst prize 150€).  

The time control is Fisher   1h40 / 40 moves + 40 min  K.O., with 30 seconds increment per move.

Accomodations:To help you in arranging accomodations, we have booked blocks of appartments in two residences: 23 appartments at residence "Les Hauts de la Draye"  for 10 nights from july 11 to july 21rst, and  20 appartments at residence "Les Valmonts" for 8 nights from july 12 to july 20.  By doing so,  we got a very significant rebate on the official rates (320€ to 380€ /8 nights for a 1 sleeping room  appartment accomodating 4 to 6 persons).  Additional nights are available at an interesting rate  if you need to arrive earlier or leave later.
