Welcome on the PROMO-ECHECS web site. For 33 years, promo-echecs has been organizing the Val Thorens International Chess Festival. In 2010, the Chess Festival leaved Val-Thorens and moved to Vaujany, 50 kms south of Grenoble, in the wonderful Oisans mountain range

The 2012 festival:
The third edition of our festival will be held from thursday july 12th to friday july 20, 2012 , with unchanged formula [3 tournaments, 9 rounds, 1h40+50'+10'+30"/move].  The festival includes 3 tournaaments:  the principal tournament (Elo >1850),  the Accession tournament (Elo between 1450 and 1900) and the Petiz'Elos tournament (Elos<1500), which allows youger players or people with Elo<1500 to meet opponents with the same strength.

In the principal tournament (Elo>1850) six IGM have been invited: Andrei Istratescu (FR, 2628), Romain Edouard (FR, 2616), Jozsef Horvath (HUN, 2531), Vladislav Nevednichy (ROM, 2546), Yannick Gozzoli (FR, 2546) and Alin Berecu (ROM, 2488).  Eleven IM participate to the tournament: D.Dumitrache (ROM, 2446), C.Foisor (ROM, 2398, wGM too),  O.Foisor (ROM, 2380), V.Kukov (BUL, 2408), N.Milchev (BUL, 2421), C.Nguyen (FR, 2420), J.C.Olivier (FR, 2382), C.Philippe (FR, 2416), J.N.Riff (FR, 2509), D.Roos (FR, 2389), and D.Stets (UKR, 2479), as well as two WGM,  G.Olarasu (ROM, 2287) and C.Foisor, alrady listed above. The prize fund will be maintained at 7200 euros minimum (and more if at least 120 registered paying players). 

Many animations will be proposed every day to the participants who will also benefit of reduced rates for accessing sporting equipments like the swimming pool.

About accomodations, we have blocked many appartments at our partner the MAEVA residences. This tournament is organized with the help of the Vaujany municipality, the region Rhones Alpes and the ligue Dauphiné Savoie des Echecs which we thank here.
